Vision rehabilitation is designed to benefit anyone whose ability to function is compromised by vision loss. Professionals evaluate remaining vision and functionality. They can work with you individually to show how to maximize use of remaining sight and learn compensatory strategies that can be used in place of eyesight. Together their training and education can help maintain independence and quality of life. Agencies listed below can assist in developing and coordinating a plan for you.

  • Many Low Vision Specialists prefer a referral from your eye doctor. Ask your eye doctor if they have a low vision services contact. Alternatively, contact your county/state’s services for the blind; they should have a vendor list available for you.
  • Many consumer organization websites have helpful tips and tricks for someone with vision loss. For example: VisionAware (American Printing House for the Blind), ACB and NFB.
