Background

Jennifer Wood, O.D., F.A.A.O., is a residency- and fellowship-trained Low Vision optometrist with more than 20 years of experience.

After graduating from the University of Houston College of Optometry (UHCO), Dr. Wood completed a Low Vision residency at UHCO and then a clinical research fellowship in Low Vision rehabilitation at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System in California. She spent more than 10 years as a Low Vision staff optometrist with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and later ran her own private optometric practice in Georgetown, Texas, with an emphasis on Low Vision rehabilitation, especially for children with cerebral visual impairment (CVI). She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and has authored several publications on Low Vision rehabilitation.

Dr. Wood provides Low Vision evaluations for patients of all ages. Her expertise in CVI allows her to work with families, teachers of the visually impaired, and school systems to develop individualized rehabilitation plans that support the education, safety, and independence of children with CVI. Working with each patient's referring eye doctor, Dr. Wood helps patients pursue their goals by exploring strategies, visual aids, technologies, and local resources that support independence at home, work, or school.
