The Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington collects new and gently used unbroken eyeglasses and sunglasses. Donated eyeglasses and sunglasses may be used at our Eyeglasses Clinic, sent to the Lions Eyeglasses Recycling Center, or sold through POB’s Look Again Resale Shops.
POB also collects pairs of glasses for Celebrity Specs®, a fundraising and awareness project featuring eyeglasses and sunglasses, along with autographed photos donated by famous personalities. Many donated glasses are auctioned off at POB’s fundraising events in support of our sight-saving programs. Click here to view a list of celebrities who have donated in the past. If you know any celebrities, please ask them to support this project and contact us.
Want to donate your gently used eyeglasses or sunglasses?
We welcome donations by mail (preferred) or at any drop-off locations listed below. In evaluating appropriate donations, a good rule of thumb is to consider whether your family or friends would find the item useful if you passed it on to them. Eyeglasses, sunglasses, and cases should be clean (free of any damage, stains, etc.), functional, and not broken. We are unable to accept donations of contact lenses.
You can also make a meaningful impact on our sight-saving mission by donating through the Donate link below.
