Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington®
about clinic

The Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington provides more than 4,500 new eyeglasses to low-income and homeless persons in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area each year who need glasses but cannot afford to pay for them. POB's eyeglasses program helps provide the new eyeglasses at a nominal cost.

POB does not provide eye examinations; therefore, individuals interested in obtaining eyeglasses through the program must have a current prescription for glasses (less than one year). The cost of eyeglasses is $35 per pair by appointment only.

Payment is by cash or money order only, and no insurance is accepted.

The clinic is located at:

2216 Rhode Island Avenue, NE
Washington, D.C. 20018

To schedule an appointment, call the clinic at (202) 269-0203. The clinic is open Monday through Friday.
