Making Things Easier To See and Do

Use light near your activity and light throughout the room.

Use more light for working close.

Control glare from light bulbs, windows and shiny surfaces.

Avoid sudden changes from bright to dim light.

Contrast light and dark tones.

Avoid pattern backgrounds and shadows.

Contrast texture shapes and sizes.

Take time for frequent visual breaks.

Take time to rest your eyes.

Use good posture.

Use comfortable seating that supports your posture.

Use large, more visible objects and items.

Bring things closer to your eyes.

Use props, like pillows or a lap desk, to bring things closer.

Use magnifiers (check with low vision service).
