Resale Shop Provides Work Experience for Alexandria Youth
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington® (POB) is proud to announce its Alexandria Look Again Resale Shop has been recognized by the City of Alexandria for participating in TeensWork!, the Alexandria Youth Employment Program. Alexandria Mayor Bill Euille presented store manager Cookie Balcha with a certificate of recognition.
“We were thanked especially for working with youth with disabilities and providing them with additional supervision and skills training,” said Balcha.
A division of the Department of Human Services, the TeensWork! Alexandria Youth Employment Program provides students classroom acquired skills and work experience. The program offers youth ages 14 to 21 an opportunity to earn extra money and gain job readiness training through partnerships with local businesses and government agencies. The Alexandria Look Again Resale Shop is open Monday – Saturday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday 12 – 5 p.m. It is located at 900 King Street in Alexandria, Va.
